I’ve mentioned earlier that our school has been chosen to be part of an artist in residence program beginning next term. This will involve the Year One and Two classes and the Year Five and Six students. Our Year Three and Four classes will be part of a two day writing festival later in the year.
In preparation for this event, our teachers attended two days of professional learning. The organisers called me yesterday to say that our teachers were sensational and had a very positive effect on the other teachers who attended: their minds were already aligned in terms of creativity and collaboration and their enthusiasm was contagious. In fact, the comment was made that artists were asking if they could work at MCC. ( I sound like a proud Dad, oops……..Grandad. Well, I am).
Paul Collard, a visiting educator from the UK, will be visiting the Primary Campus on Thursday 22 March. Our artists in residence will also attend.
That evening they will be running a great night for parents called, “Be your Kid”, it will be a learning experience similar to what the students will be doing. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I think it will be a wonderful opportunity to get a real sense of the exciting learning that will be taking place at MCC. The whole point is that through developing creativity in students and thinking creatively as teachers, we can see students lift and improve across all their learning areas.
Please do everything you can to be a part of this event. If you need a lift, call me, I’ll be happy to pick you up... I'm kind of joking, but I really would love to see you there. We’ll supply tea, coffee, lollies and some good finger food. Please register your attendance through Parent Lounge.
