Announcing ‘A Student Newspaper’

Found in: News

Mundaring Christian College is going to launch a student Newspaper - a paperless, digital newspaper run by students, with student editors and a student editorial committee.

It will have a Primary Editorial Team and a Senior Editorial Team, and will be supported by teachers and a Teacher’s Panel.

All students and all classes will be involved in creating content for the newspaper. It will represent student voice and will showcase student life in MCC. The Student Editorial Teams will be involved in the selection of content and quality control.

A date will soon be announced for a discussion with Year Five students (next year’s Year Six students), and equivalent in the Secondary Campus, with an expert in this field, who will explain more about how this will work.

Students interested in joining the Editorial Team will then be asked to apply, in writing. Areas such as writing for a purpose, ICT skills, photography and others related to the production of such a newspaper, will be taken into account when selecting the group of dedicated students. This selection will be done by the end of 2017. Guidelines for applications will be given to students.

Students, we ask that you get ready for this amazing journey. In 2018, the whole school will be involved. The official launch of the newspaper will be later in 2018, once we have worked through the initial set-up challenges, but test runs should start early in 2018.
