The Year Three and Four classes joined together on Friday to celebrate the first day of the Chinese New Year.

News_2018/Sophie-Charlotte-Ayla.JPGStudents looked at the legends and stories of why Chinese New Year is celebrated, along with the cultural stories behind the different animal zodiacs in the Chinese calendar. They were given the opportunity to interview Mr Chan about his heritage and knowledge. Students also discussed the origins and cultural rules of the "red packets" also known as "hong bao" 红包 which is given as a blessing to family members and friends who are younger and unmarried.

Chinese New Year is celebrated over 15 days - filled with gatherings, reconciliation, forgiveness and well wishes to usher in the new year.
