Mundaring Christian College have just completed the process to be able to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award to our students.
The ‘Duke of Ed’ Award is designed to empower young people, from 13 years through to 25 years of age, to develop life skills, self-reliance, confidence and leadership skills through a range of personally motivating activities that present both challenge and reward.
The award recognizes participants achievement in four key areas – skills, service, physical activity and an adventurous journey. We will begin taking student applications for the awards early next term (Term 2).
When students begin their award, they need to identify a new skill, activity, or service that they would like to explore or improve on.
1. Students select their own skills, activities, service etc. based on their own interests, what we offer or what they can source themselves.
2. What we offer is to help students set a goal, in a teacher's selected area of interest, and help determine if they have achieved it at the end of the process. We will also offer encouragement and relevant knowledge. The students must drive the process themselves, and teachers involved in the program will meet with them regularly to see that they are on track.
