As you know, NAPLAN results came out two weeks ago. We got our results last week and have been informed that parents will receive individual student’s results before the end of term.
Overall, our results were very pleasing. Out of 20 measures (Reading, Writing, Grammar & Punctuation, Spelling, Numeracy in each of years 3, 5, 7 and 9) we are at or above the national average in 2017.
In particular, we are performing exceptionally well from years 3 to 5. Our Year 5 results (generated by our outstanding team of Mrs Cornish (Yr3), Mr Chan (Yr 4) and Ms P (Piestrzeniewicz, Yr 5) indicate the value added by the school from the time of the last test in Year 3, to May this year.
In the graphs below, we see that the gap between the national average and the school average indicates the value we are adding to your child’s learning in each of the five areas tested.
We are most proud of the Spelling and Grammar & Punctuation, having come from behind to well above in both cases. This is why we love NAPLAN – it tells us when we need to work harder and do things differently. When our focused efforts pay off, it gives us the opportunity to celebrate and be proud of our students and teachers!
Please join with us to congratulate our exceptional teachers and thank them for the hard work that produced these results. The hard work of your children also needs to be acknowledged. And we mustn’t forget the support and encouragement that many of you give your children. All in all, a great team effort!
