On Tuesday, 13 November, our Year 3 class ran our Primary Assembly around Remembrance Day.
Our Year 3’s researched their relatives who had military experience. The stories shared included experiences from the Boer War, Gallipoli and the first VC recipient of WW1, the Western Front, WW2 (Rats of Tobruk and Italian Resistance), the Pacific region, several prisoners of war and the Vietnam War.
Several war veterans were present. Clare’s dad was serving in the Australian Navy submarine rescue so couldn’t attend the Assembly on the day.
In the lead up to the Assembly, all the students made wreaths to lay during the service in remembrance of those who served in the war. Hugo led us in the Ode of Remembrance before laying the of the wreaths.
To conclude our Assembly, all our primary students sat on stage where Sophie’s grandad told a few of his stories from his military experience.
It was a beautiful service. Thank you to all those who came.
Mrs. Merrin Cornish
We would also like to take this opportunity to give a special mention to all those who received an award in this weeks assembly.
