Scraps2soil Programme

Posted by Mrs Liz Johns | Found in: News

Mundaring Christian College has recently been awarded a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant to establish the Scraps2soil programme at the primary school.

Compost caddies have been delivered to each classroom for students to put their food scraps into at lunch and recess. The scraps will be delivered to the new compost station which is located next to the vegetable gardens.

Year 5 and 6’s will be in charge of monitoring the compost bins by adding carbon materials and mixing it using a compost mate which is like a giant corkscrew.

New signs display the components of compost and how it is made.

Very soon, we will have lovely rich compost to grow more vegetables in.

Mundaring Christian College wishes to thank Woolworths and Landcare Australia for their support in getting the Scraps2soil programme up and running.
