This year our Secondary canteen will run as a viable business by our Year 11 & 12 students, who are undertaking a Certificate III in Hospitality. We kicked this program off during our second week of Term 1.
"During week 2 of Term 1, our Certificate III hospitality students commenced the catering for our Secondary College canteen. With the building project for our new Kitchen due to commence soon, our students started off with a smaller menu. The trainees found the students' feedback very helpful in assisting them with menu choices and ways to serve efficiently.
Each week there will be "Specials of the Week". Chicken Caesar Salad was on the menu for week 3 and we saw it to be a great hit! This week was Bacon week!

There is so much rich learning in the process of menu planning, costing, ordering, advertising, setting up systems of organisation, customer service, money handling, and receiving feedback. This is in addition to developing their food preparation skills and techniques.
