Last week our year 9/10 cookery class harvested, prepared and cooked the artichokes grown by Mrs Johns and the horticulture team.
It involved researching how to prepare them, picking and trimming the artichokes to size, and then stuffing them with a herb, breadcrumb and Italian cheese filling. It is so rewarding to have a kitchen garden right outside the door.
The students really enjoyed the experience and the challenge of cooking with a new food material. Some of them were very impressed with the taste.
