Seeds, Pods and Pollen Art Exhibition

Posted by Mrs Liebenberg | Found in: News

Seeds, Pods and Pollen presents a collection of plant and pollinator inspired artworks created by both children and adults.

Artworks have been created through a series of recent workshops across both Mundaring and Midland Junction Arts Centres and at schools in the surrounding areas.

Four of our Year 8 Art students (Angie R., Monica R., Mia S., and Baylee S.), with the help of three of our Year 7 students (Lara S., Serayah P., and Emily C.), have signed up to the "Seeds, Pods and Pollen" exhibition and have submitted their own collaborative piece. They have named their piece "Pollinators and Partner Plants".

Students researched, designed and painted the collaborative painting and only sought technical advice from their teacher Franci Liebenberg when needed.

The plant and animal species used in the artwork were researched for accuracy, with advice from our Horticulture teacher Mrs Liz Johns.

The 13 wood panels use the glazing method of oil colour, which gives it its bright colour on a wood finish. The painting has an underpainting of acrylics with oil glazes and measures 130 x 117cm.

The mural has now been submitted to the Mundaring Arts Centre, ready for exhibition and will be open to the public for viewing as of the 13th of September.
