This term we have welcomed two new staff members to the Secondary Campus; Ms Mirjana Lagator (English and Rhetoric) and Mr Gerard Steeman (Computing and Robotics).
Ms Mirjana Lagator
Hello everyone, my name is Mirjana Lagator. I consider myself very fortunate to have been offered a job at Mundaring Christian College, as well as grateful for the opportunity. Subjects that I specialise in, are my great passion. At the moment, I teach English and Rhetoric which I am thrilled about. It is my hope that in the near future, Mundaring students will also have an opportunity to share my love for Literature and interest in Business and Management as well.
Given that I have joined MCC only a few weeks ago, I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to greet all the members of our community and to wish everyone well. On this occasion, I would also like to express my gratitude to all the students and staff who have made me feel so welcome, and who have been amazing. It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of such a professional and healthy organisational culture, and to draw endless inspiration from the magnificent surrounds of the College. We are truly blessed.
Mr Gerard Steeman
My name is Gerard Steeman, and it is a true delight to join the staff and students at Mundaring Christian College. Coming to this College has been like a breath of fresh air for me. My motto is to bring improvement to my workplace by introducing fresh ideas and methodologies to the job that I carry out as an educator, to make teaching and learning a better experience for all stakeholders.
Being at Mundaring Christian College allows me to exercise my Christian faith. The College gives me a sense of belonging and inclusion as a Christian, and I hope that this is also the case for all staff and students that I meet.
I have over 25 years of teaching experience in both Government and Private schools. In addition to a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Science with a major in Computing and a minor in Mathematics, I have a Graduate Certificate in Education in Design and Technology from ECU with High Distinctions and have a Master’s degree in Education (Educational Leadership and Management).
My current teaching areas are Information Technology which includes Robotics. In the last ten years, I have added considerable experience teaching Computer Science at John Wollaston Anglican Community School and Warnbro Community College, Design and Technology at Gilmore College, Cyril Jackson Senior College, Kelmscott Senior High School and Northlake Senior Campus. In the last 3 years, I took an interest to teach Robotics, and it is my hope to have a team of students enter the RoboCup robotics school competition in the near future, which is held every year at Curtin University.
