Year 3 & 4 Students write letters to Australian Firefighters

Posted by Merin Cornish | Found in: News

While discussing their Summer holiday, Year 3 and 4 students shared how sad they felt to hear of the devastating bushfires in the Eastern States.

Several students reflected on their experiences of bushfire and we chatted about the 2014 Parkerville fire when some of our MCC families had homes destroyed. A few of our MCC community are involved in local volunteer fire brigades.

In small groups, we talked about what we could do for the firefighters over East. The children created cards and letters expressing not only concern and thankfulness but prayers and wishes for these hardworking heroes.

Some of our students wrote:

"Thank you for your support and for looking after our wildlife. We hope that you will always stay safe! We will always pray for you. But, thank you so very much!" Amelia B, and Charlie H.

"To all the firefighters that have saved Australia from fire! Mundaring Christian College says you're so kind for helping us fighting the fires. Thank you!" Mia D.

"Thank you for helping your community. We have been praying for you. Lots of love, Mundaring Christian College." Year 4 student
