Happy in Horticulture

Posted by Opal, Emily and Brooke, Year 5 | Found in: Primary

Do you like to eat fruit and veg from your garden?

Here at Mundaring Christian Collage we do this fun activity called horticulture. It is a type of planting process where we learn how to make self-watering pot plants and how to plant other vegetables!

It only runs for the Year 5s & 6s on Wednesdays as part of the River Rangers program. We plant things like peas, celery, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes and so much more healthy foods and vegetables. Mrs Johns runs the horticulture program and usually takes 5-6 students at out at a time. Everyone loves having their turn.

Did you know that if you eat some type of tomato it can reduce the risk of cancer because there is a type of karotenoid in it?
