We Love Book Week

Posted by Christopher (Year 6) | Found in: Primary

Book week is an all Aussie schools event where students and teachers dress up as their favourite book character, and is important for kids’ reading, learning and imaginations.

Books are important because they inspire us and make us feel good and help us learn through creativity, seriousness and just plain old silliness.

The Book of the Year Awards are announced each year on the third Friday in August. Book Week commences the following day. This year's book awards had a big range of winners but the list would be too long to tell.

The part I love about book week is the book parade because I get to see everyone else’s costumes.

I decided to go as an inkling boy from an ebook called The Art of Splatoon and costs about $40 to buy.

The book parade is at the start of the day where students show what character they dressed up as. The students stood on the stage and walked back off.

We also got a puppet show that went for about an hour.

Here are some photos of the costumes that the students/teachers were wearing.
