Tested love, deception, gossips of duplicitous behaviour, perceived deaths and the general drama with touches of humour, yes, the bus ride was long but worth it.
The 9 and 10 Drama classes went with Miss. Bergin, Mr. Hurworth, Mr. Elsing and Mrs. Liebenberg to see the play 'Much Ado About Nothing'. It was performed and adapted by the Bell Shakespeare Theatre Company at Heath Ledger Theatre in the Perth city.
Much Ado About Nothing is a romantic comedy play written by Shakespeare. It is about love and deception, as we see Claudio and Hero madly in love with one another. However, their love is tested, as we see fake deaths, cheating rumours, and deception.
On a lighter note during the play we see Claudio and Hero make a plot to match-make their friends Benedick and Beatrice into loving each other, but they happen to not particularly like each other and quarrel all the time.
Along the way, there are funny, heartfelt scenes that make you want to keep watching, even when it ended. It is a hilarious play and was great fun to watch. If it wasn't good enough, there was even a celebrity in the play.
The celebrity was Will McDonald, who was on the TV show Home and Away, and everyone went crazy, showing a lack of control of excitement.
After the play ended, we were privileged to have a Q&A with the actors, and we learnt the best ways to memorise lines, we also learnt not to laugh when we are on stage, the process of rehearsal and that no matter how good the actors were, they all get nervous.
After the play ended, we made our way back to school and played and sang to loud music on the bus.
All in all, it was a great experience, and I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go. Thank you to all the teachers who gave up their time to take us there.
