The Year 7 students have kicked off the year with a bang! The entire cohort attended their Orientation Camp at Ern Halliday in Hillarys, setting the stage for an exciting start to high school.
Day One featured a range of engaging activities organised by MCC staff, including basketball, water games, taekwondo, steal the flag, and hide-and-seek. Students then headed to the beach for a sandcastle-building competition, showcasing their creativity and teamwork. The day concluded with a lively talent show, complete with puppets and dress-ups, giving students the opportunity to collaborate and reveal some impressive hidden acting talents. The evening was filled with fun, laughter, and excitement.
On Day Two, activities were led by Ern Halliday staff. Students challenged themselves on the flying fox and the Big Swing, tested their archery skills, and participated in surf lifesaving games. It was wonderful to see so many students stepping outside their comfort zones and encouraging one another.
Day Three was spent at Outback Splash, where students enjoyed the pools, water slides, and mini golf – a perfect way to wrap up an action-packed camp.
Overall, the camp was a tremendous success. It provided students with opportunities to build resilience, strengthen friendships, and develop a sense of belonging as they begin their high school journey at MCC.
