Our Year 9 students recently attended the Skills West Careers & Employment Expo at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre, Western Australia’s largest careers event. Featuring over 150 organisations, the Expo offered students the chance to explore career options, talk with industry professionals, and discover jobs of the future.
Research highlights Year 9 as a pivotal stage for career exploration, with early exposure to the world of work helping students make informed subject selections and future pathway decisions. Events like this empower students to connect their current studies with real-world possibilities and inspire them to set meaningful goals.
Feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive. Students displayed excellent behaviour, engaged positively with vendors, and many walked away with freebies and resources to inspire their career planning, with many students having follow-up queries after the event. We believe this excursion was an invaluable step in supporting our students’ career development journey.
