The Year 12 Ball is a significant milestone, marking the first event where the entire Year 12 cohort comes together to celebrate their final year. In the lead-up to this special night, students worked tirelessly, planning, booking, and investing time and energy to ensure it would be memorable.
On the night of Saturday, 8 February 2025, students arrived in various transport, from party buses and vintage cars to being chauffeured by parents. Upon entering Optus Stadium, they were greeted by a daunting number of stairs—a challenge for many as they navigated them in heels and long dresses.
Once inside the stadium, students were awestruck by the venue’s grandeur, reserved exclusively for our MCC Ball—a rare occurrence at Optus Stadium, which often hosts up to 20 events in a single evening.
The festivities began with students enjoying mocktails on the outdoor terrace of the Black Swan Ballroom, taking in the stunning sunset over the stadium and relishing the slight breeze that cut through the day’s humidity. Inside the ballroom, students mingled, posed for professional photos, and danced the night away.
Throughout the evening, the Year 12 cohort displayed a sense of unity, encouraging their peers to dance, mingle, and enjoy the night to the fullest. The food was exceptional, ensuring that no one was left hungry. A few rehearsed dances allowed the whole cohort to enjoy the dancefloor.
As the night drew to a close, College Captains Abbey and Ben took the stage to present a series of fun awards, such as Best Dancer, Best Duo, and First to Take Off Their Heels. These light-hearted moments provided the perfect end to an unforgettable evening, celebrating the achievements and camaraderie of the cohort.
Finally, as the event ended, the students were bid farewell by staff and escorted back down the stairs, ready to head back to their fancy cars, buses, and limos. Despite their sore feet, everyone walked away with a spring in their step, proud of the memories they had created.
Thank you to the students and staff who turned this incredible night of music, dancing, and unity into an unforgettable celebration.
