Highlights from the 2025 Secondary Swimming Carnivals

The 2025 Swimming Carnivals were a fantastic display of student talent, sportsmanship, and school spirit across multiple events, including the Year 10-12 Twilight Swimming Carnival, the Year 7-9 Swimming Carnival, and the H-Division ACC Interschool Swimming Carnival.

Year 10-12 Twilight Swimming Carnival

Held at the Bilgoman Aquatic Centre, the Twilight Swimming Carnival brought students and staff together for an exciting evening of competition. Students excelled in various races, with the all-in relay events being a highlight, where the impressive student performances outpaced the teacher team. The carnival was made even more fun by students dressing up in house colours, followed by a relaxed pizza dinner to end the evening.

The champion house will be revealed at the Assembly in Week 11, along with individual champion trophies and medals. The winners included Sophia D and Ben R-S, crowned as the Open Champion Girl and Boy, respectively.

Year 7-9 Swimming Carnival

The Year 7-9 Swimming Carnival at Bayswater Waves Aquatic Centre saw the highest participation rate to date. Students competed fiercely in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly events. A standout moment came from Year 7’s Georgia L, who broke three longstanding records in the U13 category: 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, and 50m Butterfly. We will remember her remarkable achievements for years!

The day wasn’t just about competition—students also enjoyed novelty events and free swims, with Mr. Entwistle’s commentary keeping the energy high. Champion house and individual winners will be announced at the Assembly in Week 11.

H-Division ACC Interschool Swimming Carnival

On 19th March, 41 MCC students competed in the H-Division ACC Interschool Swimming Carnival at the Perth High Performance Centre. Although we didn’t secure top results this year, our swimmers demonstrated incredible determination and pride in every race. Congratulations to Georgia L (U13 Overall Champion Girl) and Uri A (U14 2nd Runner-Up Champion Boy) for their outstanding individual results. This experience has only strengthened our team, and we look forward to dominating the I-Division Swimming Carnival in 2026.

Thank you to all participants, staff, senior student helpers, and parent supporters for making the 2025 Swimming Carnivals successful. We are excited for the future, especially with our inaugural Year 7-12 full participation carnival scheduled for 2026 at the Perth High Performance Centre!
