GRIP Leadership Conference

Throughout the day, we learned how to be better leaders and how we can take responsibility to make positive changes at our school.

Generosity. Responsibility. Integrity. People.

When we arrived in the city at the Convention Centre, Mrs. Donoghoe and Miss Hickford reminded us we needed to be very quiet as we entered the building and the conference ballroom…

However, instead of entering a quiet, serious room, we walked into a HUGE room with over 1000 students who were dancing, singing, and laughing along to very loud music! Didn’t need to be so quiet after all!

Thursday 20th May 2021

On Thursday the 20th of May, the student leaders from MCC went to the Perth Convention Centre for a leadership conference called Grip. There were many other schools and students there as well.

Throughout the day, we learned how to be better leaders and how we can take responsibility to make positive changes at our school. We really loved learning about this, and the Q&A at the end with our hosts. We also loved walking through Elizabeth Quay and rolling down a huge grassy hill on the way back to the carpark.

We had an awesome day and are recommending this conference for our student leaders next year.

Things we ‘liked’ or ‘learned’ from our day at GRIP Leadership Conference.

“I liked brainstorming leadership ideas and learnt how to tell when it’s my time to lead.” Ayla S.

“I liked watching Jack dance and I learned the values of being a good leader.” Davian S.

“My favourite thing was the Celebrity Heads game and I learnt leadership skills.” Aiden B.

“I liked playing charades and other fun stuff like that and learnt about lots of leadership strategies.” Della P.

“I liked the Q & A session and I learnt that being a good leader now, helps me in the future.” Sophie C.

“Not only was this a day packed with a lot of high-energy fun, but it was also a great opportunity for our leaders to learn real practical strategies to help them develop as leaders of our school, now and into the future. They also came up with some great ideas for MCC so ‘watch this space! As our first-ever attendance at this conference, the students were a credit to Mundaring Christian College and they all agreed we should DEFINITELY attend again next year!” Mrs. Donoghoe and Miss Hickford.
